Unpacking B Corps’ Impact on Sustainable Development: An Analysis from Structuration Theory

With Our Common Future and the United Nation’s global call to implement Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2030, public policies increasingly emphasise need for various actors contribute a transformation more sustainable future. Despite growing research on hybrid organisations their contributions development, impact accelerating this transition might be faulty. Looking at type of organisation, Certified B Corporations (B Corps), article draws multiple case study nine Corps developing country Latin America, Colombia. The builds Structuration Theory examine what extent how development. empirically shows that focus four categories development: considering future generations; enhancing human development; encouraging new mindsets, behaviours, lifestyles; promoting socio-political engagement. findings suggest develop communicative narrative discourses symbolic schemas as means signification follow norms moral rules exert legitimation utilise authoritative resources exercise power. contributes organisations, sustainability transitions, business models.
